About
At Global Society News (GSN), the Editorial Team SDG16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions examines how peace, justice, and transparent governance support sustainable development. The team brings together journalists, legal experts, and human rights analysts who explore the systems that protect freedoms, promote accountability, and help societies function fairly.
Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG16) – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, established under the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, aims to promote peaceful and inclusive societies, ensure access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable, and transparent institutions. It recognises that development depends on the rule of law, human rights, and good governance.
Conflict, corruption, and weak institutions continue to threaten peace and stability worldwide. Many communities face displacement, insecurity, and limited trust in public systems. At the same time, judicial reform, civic participation, anti-corruption initiatives, community mediation, and legal empowerment are helping to strengthen institutions and rebuild confidence.
The Editorial Team SDG16 at GSN examines these issues through investigative journalism, policy analysis, and collaboration with human rights organisations, peacebuilding institutions, and legal experts. Its reporting highlights judicial independence, civic engagement, accountability, democratic reform, and the links between peace, education, gender equality, poverty reduction, and climate resilience.
